Canova Club

Friendship, culture, and solidarity

Founded in 1978 by Stefano Balsamo, the Canova Club is an association that brings together managers, entrepreneurs, academics, and professionals around three shared values: friendship, culture, and solidarity. The Club hosts monthly gatherings known as cenacoli — in-depth discussion meetings featuring speakers and opinion leaders addressing economic, social, and cultural themes. Among its core activities, the Club promotes cultural initiatives, debates, conferences, service projects for the common good, networking moments, as well as solidarity projects developed through its non-profit organization, Canovalandia. If you want a shorter version, a more conceptual rewrite, or a fully lowercase editorial version aligned with a specific design system, I can adapt it precisely.

Brand Identity. A new image shaped by friendship

The rebranding developed by Inarea stems from the desire to accompany the Canova Club into a new phase of its history, marked by a renewed focus on strengthening its community, which has grown over the years in both size and significance. This was coupled with the need to bring coherence to a complex brand architecture that made it difficult to identify the underlying framework of the many activities, service initiatives, and projects developed over time. The strategic proposal builds on the Club’s history and values — friendship, culture, and solidarity — placing the concept of friendship at the center as the key interpretative lens of its historical evolution. The identity thus becomes a narrative device that places people and relationships at its core, facilitating intergenerational dialogue among members. The logo originates from a restyling of the historic mark: the two Cs, simplified in form and rendered two-dimensional to improve reproducibility, come together to create a shape that evokes an embrace. The new color, light blue, more inclusive and welcoming than the original gold, reinforces the sense of care and attentiveness the Club seeks to express. The logotype is based on a reinterpretation of the Playfair typeface. Compared to the previous version, the name adopts a lighter, more elegant, and more legible form, achieved through an overall reduction in stroke weight. To further emphasize the sense of openness and forward momentum embodied by Canova, the horizontal bars of the letter “A” have been removed.

Brand Architecture. a single voice for a clearer ecosystem

The brand architecture favors a simple, masterbrand-centered structure, bringing the multiplicity of services back to a single voice: that of the Canova Club. Services that emerged organically from the members are consolidated under the main brand, with only a few exceptions for partnered initiatives — such as Diplomatia — which retain an autonomous yet coherent identity.

Communication Design. Video Motion Design

The new communication language is applied consistently across all touchpoints, from the website to printed materials, through a clear, contemporary, and modular visual system. Starting from the typeface, a mirrored alphabet of letters that “embrace” one another was created, generating forms that can be used as graphic elements, frames, or visual fields for text and imagery. Mirrored and intersecting letters become an expressive system capable of defining surfaces without the need for images or complex grids. These elegant patterns, primarily set on white or blue backgrounds, allow for great operational flexibility while strengthening both brand recognition and the Club’s three founding values.
